If you are looking for something to do in Maine this weekend, and the weather cooperates even a little, let me suggest blueberry picking.
It’s a great year for blueberries, and now is the time to pick them. Last weekend Dave and I went to Estes Berry Farm in Buxton and picked 12 pounds at $2.25 a pound. They have highbush berries (which I don’t like quite as much as wild/lowbush berries, but they’re easier to pick and I’m not sure where to go for wild berries) and the bushes were covered in blueberries.
The weekend is supposed to be a little gloomy, which I think is actually perfect for berry picking, as you’re not baking in the sun. Do call before you go, though, to confirm times and conditions.
